why "chakra pop"? i was becoming dissatisfied with some of the devices that i tend to use, and decided to use the colours of the chakra to determine the key for each track in order to force myself to break out of some of my comfort zones, which is where the "chakra" part comes in. for the most part, all these tracks are pretty poppy, hence the "pop" part. each chakra colour is associated with a certain pitch. i let the mode of the keys i used be largely determined by what i felt like writing, so there's a good mix of major and minor on this record. for those who may be curious, here is a list of which pitches correspond to which colour:
red = c
orange = d
yellow = e
green = f
blue = g
indigo = a
violet = b
i don't claim to be any sort of expert on the use(s) of the chakra, and don't suggest attempting to use these recordings to align your chakras. my use of them was simply a tool to force me to work in more than the two or three keys toward which i tend to gravitate.
what's your favourite colour?
(all tracks created by thom martin, some using finale, all using reason.)
Note: For some reason, the encoder has added a click at the beginning and a small bit of white noise at the end of each track in the flash player. This noise is not in the tracks when downloaded.
